WHAT I…

LIKE: MIZ-ZOU…lol! The way the Tigers came out swinging and then finished off the opponent as they had them leaning on the rope. The O-line went to work and had a great showing. Great all around team effort to take the victory!

DISLIKE: The Tigers need to take care of the ball better, especially in big games like this. Also I think that the secondary needs to get a bit more physical on the corners. I seen too many times the corners being man handled by the OU wide outs. Other than that, I can’t say a thing…the Tigers did their dew!

SUGGEST: Keep preparing and playing like you are. The sky’s the limit for this team and I’m expecting a strong finish for the Tigers going into to 2nd half of the season.

The Tigers Offensive Line

MU vs Texas A & M

WHAT I...

LIKE: I like how the Tigers came out punching in this game. Coming out punching is something that the Tigers will have to do for the rest of the season, to make a already good season into a special one. The offense once again was on point and had some stand out guys. Blaine and TJ of course did their thing and Wes kemp came through with a solid game. The O-line has been solid all season and deserve some TC love. The defense was once again stellar. I like how they're playing as a unit and continue to get better as the season goes on. Special teams was solid as well. All around solid effort.

DISLIKE: Not much to dislike, but I saw 1 thing that I disliked, the lack of the run game. We need to let the three headed monster go to work. The more the run game comes to life, the more potent an already potent offense become. Other than that, I can't complain.

SUGGEST: Keep doing what your are doing but continue to get better as a team. Let's take this to the BSC!

LIKE: I can say that the Tigers came out strong in this game. Even though early on the score didn’t reflect that with such a tight game with CU, The tigers where still able to play solid football until they put some scoring together. The Defense is really starting to impress me more and more. They are aggressive, solid tacklers and most of all hustlers. It’s safe to say that the D has taken on the attitude of d coordinator Coach Steckal. Steck was always a crazy go getter type and I see his attitude all over the D! The offense got off to a slow start, but Blain and his crew was able to put some points on the board. TJ Moe was solid as well as Agnew, but I’m still looking for that big play threat to emerge for the Tigers. Special teams were solid overall.

DISLIKE: I really couldn’t find too many dislikes. The run game was subpar at most and needs to improve for the Tigers to have a chance going into a late conference schedule that’s tough. The offense needs to produce more and Blain needs to spread the ball around to all of his play makers, to keep opponents off balance.

SUGGEST: I suggest staying aggressive on D and don’t let up. If the Tigers are to go to a championship game this year and have a chance of winning, the D will be the key, so they need to show and step up every game. The offense needs to get more creative and focus on becoming a total unit. Without a big play guy emerging, they need to learn how to utilize the skills of every player on the field. Get everybody involved to keep teams off balance and to keep you unpredictable. Because I tell you, as the season goes on and the Tiger opponents get better, TJ Moe can’t be the only guy making plays. They need the team.

MU DEFENSE

MU vs Miami of Ohio

WHAT I……

LIKE: Bottom line, I was IMPRESSED. The Tigers came out on fire and took it to the Redhawks from the first snap to the end. By the look of things the Tigers week of preparation must have went great. A good sign of how your team will play on Saturday is pretty clear at how your team practice during the week. I’m pretty sure that after the close game with San Diego St., Coach P had the Tigers working pretty hard in practice, to ensure they don’t have a repeat from their previous game. I wanted to highlight one stat that I thought was amazing, the Tigers rush game on their first 9 carries accounted for 140+ yards. The reason I say that it’s amazing, is because I was just giving Alabama running back Mark Ingram credit for his 9 carries 150 yard game. Although it was three different Tigers who contributed to this total, I still think that it is impressive and deserves credit. The O line and tailbacks got it done. The Defense was stellar and I like how they continue to get aggressive. Keep up the good work and continue to shape your attitude for “shut down” ball. Defense is about attitude and the truth of the matter is the Tigers will only go as far as the defense will allow them. All around solid performance.

DISLIKE: I loved it! Nothing to dislike, have to give credit where credit is due!

SUGGEST: Keep doing what you do Tigers, but continue to grow as a team and build off your momentum. Keep up the hustle and grind and the rest will follow. As I mentioned in the previous week, stay focus on the core fundamentals of the team and you will be good to go!

MU vs McNeese St

What I ….

LIKE: Well it was a lot going on in this game to like. I liked how the Tigers came out firing on all cylinders and basically man handling their opponents the way that they where suppose to. True freshman tailback Henry Josey was a bright spot, as well as a great preview of what the Tigers have in the stable for the future. Once again, Blaine Gabbet looked sharp and I was impressed. The defense was solid and as I mentioned above did what they where suppose to do against an opponent such as McNeese st. Overall great job Tigers!

DISLIKE: It would have been hard to find something in this game that I dislike. With all the scoring and great overall game by the Tigers, I would be stupid to complain about the way they played this game. Although I can’t think of one thing that I dislike about the game, I can tell you that I’m starting to dislike the competition that MU is lining up against early on in the season. I mean not to knock MU efforts in this game, but McNeese St. looked and played like a high school team at best. I’m waiting for the Tigers to take that next step, to where we see a Georgia or Michigan St on the non conference schedule of the Tigers. That’s how you go out and show the world that you are a good football program, by being able to compete and beat any team in the nation. Enough with the easy teams already!

SUGGEST: My suggestion for the Tigers is to keep doing what you are doing, and continue to get better as a team. Don’t let up and prepare yourself for some tough battles ahead. Keep getting the ball into the hands of your playmakers and keep the defense aggressive. Don’t get to caught up in your first two wins, those are done with, now focus on the next task at hand and try to do a 100% better the next game, then you did in your last victory!

WHAT I….

LIKE:

With this being the first game, I can say that I saw a lot of positive signs from the Tigers. First I have to say that Blain Gabbert arm looks NFL ready, all I can say is that the kid has an arm to die for (that’s if you really want to play in the NFL as a quarterback). I was also encouraged by the running game. Even though it wasn’t often enough, when the Tigers ran the ball, they got the job done. I was really impressed with the defense. The corners and safety’s seemed to have had a productive off season, not just with weights and running, but getting their minds right and being more aggressive on the edge. If the secondary can play this way all season, mark my word, the Tigers will have one of the top defenses in the conference. O, and don’t forget Aldon Smith on the D line, the guy can flat out go and play football. Last but not least, I like the fact that the Tigers competed for 4 quarters and was able to finish the game strong and with a W!

DISLIKE:

There wasn’t too much for me to dislike. To be honest, I don’t think that I saw anything that I didn’t agree with or disliked. I’m sure that as the season go on I will find plenty of dislikes about the Tiger’s play, until then great job all around.

SUGGEST:

Run the ball more and keep a balanced offense along with an aggressive defense. Feed your scat backs with different options, (screens, hand offs, swing passes etc.). On defense when blitzing, please be more aggressive so that we can get to the quarterback or cause disruption in the backfield. This last suggestion will be for every game, “Take the fight to the opponent and don’t let them bring the fight to you”!

MU Tiger Football Pre Season...

It’s that time of year again…..Football is back. Yes I’m going to bless you with my intellectually thoughts on what I like, dislike and suggest on the Mizzou Tiger football team. With 17 returning starters, well after the D Washington situations, 16 returning starters, I think the Tigers have a foundation for success. As a former Tiger myself and standout college players, I know what a solid foundation can do for a team in terms of winning. Of course the Tiger’s foundation was shaken this off season with the DWI arrest of 2 players and 1 coach and of course like I mentioned above, the D Wash story, people all around screaming .500 ball this season and not to mention the Tigers losing a teammate in a fatal car crash. With all that going on, one would think that the distractions would do nothing but take the team down. I would say that in some cases that may be true, but in the case of the Tigers, with strong leadership in coach Pinkel and a solid foundation under them, I expect the Tigers to shake off the distraction, and have a productive bowl bound season!

WHAT I...


LIKE: Well it seemed as if the Tigers got back to the fundamentals of the game. You know the blocking, catching ,tackling, running etc. They came out smoking and didn't let up on the steam until the final whistle went off. Gabbert to Alexander for the touchdown, is my new saying. These two guys, off course with the help of the team, have shined on many occasions throughout this season. Alexander 10 rec 200 yds and 3 TD's IS one of the top wide-outs in the country. He continues to dominate and will leave his mark in MU history books. Of course with Alexander numbers, you have to give credit to the QB and O-Line for playing a solid game. The defense bounced back as well. As I stated before I think that the Tigers have a future in Aldon Smith at end, as well as a good ball player in Will Ebner at linebacker. The special teams was sound and solid, and as I know that's what any good coach is looking for at the least from its special team.


DISLIKE: When a team comes out and play a solid all around game, it's kind of hard for you to find something to dislike. I'm no hater by any means, so that mean it's kind of hard for me to dig for dirt and hate just to say that I disliked something about the game. I can say this, that the Tigers played a remarkable game, and what ever happened that I disliked, was over shadowed by my likes! Great Job Tigers!


SUGGEST: I'll say it again. Way to go Tigers! Build off this momentum and finish the season strong. With a even playing field in the Big 12 this season, only so many bowl games exist for only so many Big 12 teams. With almost all the teams having identical records, which are bowl eligible, the Tigers need to run the table and get the remaining of the wins on their schedule to be able to get a bowl game this year. Although Mizzou has a great advantage with fan support and a growing program, the bowl committee will still need to see WINS from MU for the rest of this season. MU goal is a bowl!

WHAT I...


LIKE: Well it's kind of hard to like something about this game, when you lose to Baylor.....not to under mind Baylor, they played a great game, but come on Tiger's, Baylor? The offense came out fast and played well in the first half. I don't care what anybody say, I believe Blaine will only get better with Time, like wine! Don't lose faith in him just yet. Dude is a raw talent. As far as my mans D Alexander, like I have said numerous times, he is one of the top WR in the country. It's a saying "men lie, women lie, numbers don't"! D Alexander 13 rec 214 yd 2 TD! Great job DA!


DISLIKE: DEFENSE (clap clap) DEFENSE! Yes I'm rooting for the D, but I think they let the team down in this game. As a former defensive captain and defensive back, I was truly sadden by the play of the secondary. These guys are out there playing with NO confidence. As a former Post Dispatch Defensive Player of the Year, and being rated as one of the top defensive backs in the country coming out of high school, I can tell you a few secrets on how to be successful in the secondary, and it's really simple. Trust in your technic and have a whole lot of CONFIDENCE! My attitude was always a me against the world mentality, but it paid off on the field. The way Baylor ran through MU defense on Saturday should make the Tigers wish that next Saturday was today! The D should have a chip on their shoulders to where you not only want too, but DO pitch a shut out in next week's game. Challenge yourselves, it will only make you better! I also disliked the attitude of the coaches in this game. Yes it is true that it's the players job to go out on the field and execute and make plays, but it's the coaches job to light a fire under the players behind when he is failing to do so! And if he can't do so, have another player ready to go that can replace him.


SUGGEST: Um at this point, I think that MU back is against the wall. My suggestion is to come out and play every game like it's your last. Like you life depends on it. MU still has a chance to at least have a winning record, but they posses little room for error. I would like to see the coaches let their hair down a little bit and throw the kitchen sink and some at the remaining opponents. In football, being conservative won't get it. You gotta be aggressive in all facets. Let's turn the aggressiveness up!

WHAT I…..

LIKE: Ummmmmmmmmmmmm…ok I got one…..I like how the Zou (Mizzou Stadium) packed in 70k plus to see the game! That’s a winner for the Tigers!

DISLIKE: To be honest, I can say that I disliked the whole game. To me it seemed as if the Tigers just laid down for Texas. Trust me I can see this quickly when this happens. I experienced this first hand when I was a player. Guys who would not be ready to play in a big game and it shows on the field. It’s a variety of reasons why guys are not ready to play, their own mental preparations, lack of physical preparations or fear of the opponent. Now I can say that I’ve seen all three of them in my life time with the Tigers, but I can point out that I seen lack of mental preparation and fear of the opponent from the Tigers in this game. Not to make excuses for coach P, but I know that he had the boys physically prepared. There is no need to ring the alarm for Coach Pinkel to fire his coordinators and get more 4 and 5 star recruits, although I do agree with the 4 and 5 star recruit cry, but Mizzou has a team that if it comes out and plays hard for 4 quarters while executing the fundamentals, can compete with the best of them. I’m speaking from facts, not fiction.

SUGGEST: I suggest that the Tigers get back to the fundamentals of the game. Blocking, tackling, catching, gap control, leverage etc. If the guys get back to this, and do these things well and have more will then the guys they are playing against, then the Tigers will end up with a pretty good record, even if they have lost three straight. The Tigers still got a chance to win the north, but it’s going to be a fight and they must win every game from here on out. Let’s go coach P, get the boys going again. Get back to the basics, execute and have fun!

MU vs Nebraska

WHAT I....

LIKE: Well there wasn’t too much that I liked about this game. The team started and finished slow. The defense played well for 3 quarters, but didn’t when it really mattered.

DISLIKE: My first worry, which played into my prediction, was if the Tigers come out slow as a team that they will lose. No I wasn’t wishing bad luck on my Tigers, I was just being honest as a guy who have been there and done that. Yes sometimes you can get away with starting slow as a team on less stellar opponents, but when you play good teams such as Nebraska, you have to come out smoking. I was disappointed in the offensive play calling. At times it seems as if the O coordinator was nervous up in the booth. To me it looks like they compressed their game plan, to help out Nebraska. The offense had a chance to play defense in this game and help the team when. What I mean by that, is when the Tigers where up 9-0 going into the 4th quarter, the offense should have been running the ball to kill the clock and control the tempo of the game, especially when you have a one legged quarterback at the helm. The O line disappointed me, in not being able to control the line of scrimmage. Just to be honest with you, I think that they where man handled by the Huskers d-line. The Tigers running game was absent at best. D Washington seems to be just a step slow on all of his running plays. I don’t know if it was the weather or what, but the run game was smothered. Defensively, the Tigers played good for 3 quarters, but collapsed when they where really needed. For three quarters, I saw a team that was running and hitting and totally shutting Nebraska down. But once the 4th quarter rolled in, the D-fense rolled out. It seemed like a totally different team out there playing. Giving up big plays, 27 points in like a 5 minute span. That’s just unacceptable. Although the D played well for three quarters, in the game of football, it’s not about how and where you started, but how and where you finish!

SUGGEST: It’s simple, shake it off and move on. The Tigers have two big games coming up with no time in between to pout and dwell on this lost. You know the saying, it is what it is. Learn from this game and continue to grow as a team. Learn how to start fast and finish strong. Football is a 4 quarter game, and with the remainder of MU schedule, they will have to play each team from quarter 1through 4! Learn how to do that as a TEAM!

MU vs Nevada

WHAT I......


LIKE: The one thing that I continue to see from this Tiger team that continues to impress me is the fight and resilience they display, and as a former Pinkel troop, I can say this is a direct reflection of MU's head coach and the way he runs his program! The offense got off to a slow start, but made crucial plays that I felt got the offense going. Gabbert once again displayed that he will be a force to be reckon with this season and beyond. I think that Perry and Alexander are becoming a dual threat in MU's receiver core. I look forward to seeing what else they have to offer as the season goes on, and they come up against better competition. Kendial Lawrence is also someone I expect to become a small but crucial part of the MU offense. Kendial is just a freshman, but I think he is one of those special freshman, if you know what I mean! The defense was OK. See I'm a defensive minded guy, so my attitude is to not give up any yards or points at all. They had some big hits, and stops when it mattered. I like how the guys are aggressive sometime, and how they continue to gel together as a unit. Special teams did their job!


DISLIKE: The thing that I didn't like about the offense was the slow start. With the better teams, which we are now facing, we gotta come out of the locker room smoking. It has to be dominate from the start. That goes for both the offense, D-fense and special teams! As a former captain, my biggest objective on game day, was to get the troops fired up from the start, rather it be by my vocal leadership, or my actions on the field going hard. This is what we need from snap one, from all facets of the game! I also want to see the D tighten up and become ummmmm, a bit more reckless. That's what's Defense is all about, being reckless right?..lol


SUGGEST: You may have herd it a few times in this article already, but my suggest is simple, keep doing what you do, but START FAST AND FISNISH STRONG!
